Gandhi Connect held on 16th of February 2019

The Gandhi Connect program this year was held on the 16th of February 2019. The first part had Vijaya Ramkumar taking a session on communication with students and the effects of pre-judgements and prejudices on students and the way to look at students as equals. This session had role playing and activities. The second session by Ms. Devika was on Mr. M.K.Gandhi and what inclusion meant to him.

The main learnings from the workshop were -

  • To accept and respect what is different. It is one of the virtues without which listening cannot take place.
  • Freedom is a question of trust.
  • Whatever plays in the non verbal tracts of our minds gets rapidly translated into words.
  • Friendship involves mutual inclusion.
  • Inclusion is experiencing the other side.
  • By practicing inclusion in education, the teacher may be able to nurture and awaken capability for inclusion in children.
