Founder’s Day in remembrance of our founder Smt. Manjubhashini was celebrated on the 22nd of September in the Cultural Hall at Bala Mandir.  We were honoured to have Dr. Radhakrishnan, Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation, who was our Chief Guest.  Villupattu on the life of Manjumma was performed by the children. Some of our members, teachers and staff- Ms. Lakshmi Gopal, Ms. Durgabai and Ms. Usharani also shared their Reminiscences about Manjumma. 

Dr. Radhakrishnan gave away the long service awards to those who had completed significant years of service in the institution. 

The awardees for this year were:

•  5 Years – Sangeetha M
• 10 Years – Latha R, Sulochana R and Sushmitha C
• 15 Years – Padmavathi M
• 20 Years – Jaishree
• 25 Years – Vasantha K and Geetha V 
• 30 Years – Mala BM, Usharani B and Paneerselvam S

Dr. Radhakrishnan spoke about the service rendered by Manjumma for the Bala Mandir children and exhorted the children to follow the values that she had brought into Bala Mandir. A special music programme was presented by Ms. Sudha Lakshmi Rao, for the children and staff and everyone enjoyed it very much.
